New Publication: SIX COUNTRIES, SIX REFORM MODELS: THE HEALTHCARE REFORM EXPERIENCE OF ISRAEL, THE NETHERLANDS, NEW ZEALAND, SINGAPORE, SWITZERLAND AND TAIWAN. Healthcare Reforms “Under the Radar Screen”. GKEN delegate Meng Kim Lin and other international collaborators present case studies of health care reform in several small- to mid-sized economies throughout the globe.

Corporate Initiative: Dow Chemical Lighten UP Program: A Worksite Approach to Promoting Healthy Weight Management (USA). Results from a study examining environmental interventions to reduce the incidence of obesity and overweight in Dow employees.

Government Action: Singapore Health Promotion Board (Singapore Ministry of Health). The Health Promotion Board (HPB) offers a Workplace Health Promotion Grant of up to $10,000 to provide financial support to help organizations start and sustain their workplace health programs.

Private Sector Action: Leading by Example: Initiative of Partnership for Prevention and US Chamber of Commerce (USA). CEOs share experience and knowledge with other CEOs and “lead by example” to visibly support and promote workplace wellness initiatives.

NGO Action: Agita Mundo Network (Brazil). Brazil’s Agita Mundo Network encourages research, advocacy and community education for physical activity and health. Agita Mundo Network developed “World Day for Physical Activity,” a 2009 campaign promoting physical activity that mobilized more than 5.4 million participants in 22 countries around the world.

International Agency Action: Healthy Workplace Framework by the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO is developing a global guide for healthy workplaces which follows a comprehensive approach including occupational health, the psychosocial working environment, health promotion and corporate social responsibility. The draft framework is now available.
