REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
SEEKING PROVEN PROPHYLACTIC PRACTICES FOR INFLUENZA CONTROL
Introduction: This is a Request for Information (RFI) pertaining to the recent outbreak of the H1N1 (swine flu) influenza and is being sought by the Global Knowledge Exchange Network on Healthcare(GKEN). The organization is composed of volunteer member delegates from the EU, South East Asia, and the United States. The delegates include practicing physicians, health administrators, health policy advocates, health underwriters and voluntary health organizations. The Audience: The intended audience for the information collected through this RFI includes but is not limited to the general public, healthcare practitioners, public health professionals and volunteers who are assisting in this effort. The GKEN Objectives: The GKEN objective in issuing this (RFI) is to gather useful information regarding practices that can be undertaken by the general public, health providers and others in the healthcare field to limit the spread of the H1N1 influenza virus, currently present on a global scale. GKEN recognizes the current recommendations and seeks to determine if there are additional procedures that can be taken to limit the spread of the virus by soliciting assistance in uncovering additional opportunities. Information Being Requested: GKEN is seeking simple, replicable better practices that can reduce the transmission of the current H1N1 influenza virus. Who May Respond: GKEN is seeking responses from any health practitioner nurses/physicians, public health workers, healthcare aides and administrators. Responses are also welcome from any healthcare organization, university or other organization with healthcare experience. How to Respond: GKEN is accepting all suggestions electronically in a machine readable format. Submissions should be sent to All entries should be limited to no more than two pages with a description of the better practice and where it is currently being utilized. While no cover letter is necessary, please include appropriate contact information regarding the individual who is submitting the practice. Reimbursement: GKEN will not reimburse submitters for any cost in conjunction with the submission. Copyright: According to GKEN Policies and Procedures proprietary and confidential materials shall not be included in any response to GKEN. Any material received is treated as a public document. Any copyrighted material submitted for use/publication by GKEN is required to have a waiver of copyright that allows GKEN to post that information for public viewing. Review Process: All submissions will be reviewed by GKEN delegates and other experts as warranted by the submission before acceptance for posting.
